Looks like we may get them at Walt Disney World.
Thoughts?

April 18, 2017 at 8:38 pm #22953This is my favorite: Disney has been referring to this project as “The Italian Job”
:| That being said…
My question is this: Doesn’t Epcot TO Hollywood Studios already have a unique transportation system in the friendship boats AND the walkway? This will be the 3rd park to park transportation system between those 2 parks. :|
This whole new project just seems ‘weird’ to me. Not sure how I feel about this yet.

RIDisneyPinGuy182 XPI do not see it being efficient-enough for the volume of guests. It seems more of a novelty to me. Perhaps it is to ease up some of the strain on the bus system, but at best it is a supplement if they keep the busses rolling at the current rate.
It will also drive up pricing at some of my favorite resorts, likely to the point where they will not be worth what the rates will be. Pushing me up to the deluxe resorts, which will in-turn decrease how often I go.
In a way, I see it strong-arming more people into DVC, which I’m not sure how I feel about it…
I would be more excited about investment into the monorail system by fixing current issues with it and expanding service.

All of your points are spot on. I can’t see how this would be more efficient than any other form of transportation that they have currently. AND if they start jacking up the prices of POR, POFQ, or CSR I’m going to cry. :'(
April 19, 2017 at 7:14 am #22972I heard they were constructing another means of transportation also. Something called a foot path. And encouraging people to get out and walk. (that’s sarcasm)

I agree on all points, but especially this. Seems like the time, money, and effort this will take really won’t help much at all. As I’ve said before, they scrapped the Skyway for a reason. I can’t see myself using the “gondolas”.
Also I have issues with how messy I can see this making the WDW landscape look :|

StupidJudy71 XPI’d be curious to find out how long it would take from let’s say Pop to Epcot using the gondolas vs waiting for a bus. Looks like a few transfers to get from A to B which means getting back in line at each stop.
April 19, 2017 at 12:04 pm #23050@stupidjudy Do you think they will make guests get off, wait in line, and get back on at each of the transfers? OR would they allow you to stay on to get from A to B? That could be very time consuming if they make you get off at each one.

Grumpytude499 XPFrom what I’ve seen there is just the one “station” on the way from Pop. That is at the CBR. The rest are just towers/turns in the route. They haven’t said who would have to transfer at CBR, it could be those coming from/to Pop or it could be those going to/coming from the studios.

Ok, not so bad then!

I would think it would work like the Gondolas at ski resorts where you can stay on as long as you want although they probably wouldn’t let you spend the night in one.
September 14, 2018 at 11:20 am #88700Update: they’ll have no air conditioning, but they will have audio.
Disney Skyliner Gondolas Will Not Be Air-Conditioned, But Will Feature Onboard Audio
