so me and my BFF Anna are going to WDW together in august! she’s been twice before, but she went with her softball team so she didn’t get to spend that much time in the parks as she was mostly playing in tournaments. this is like her first official disney trip and i’m a lunatic and want her to fall in love with the magic so she becomes a disney person like me LOL anyone have any suggestions on what’s a MUST do?

for dining we’ll be on the QS dining plan, but we’re gonna do crystal palace for breakfast. i’m trying to convince her to do cinderella’s royal table but that’s not looking too good lol

The new Disney Must-Do thread may help you here! :)

My personal recommendations for a first timer would probably be a really good nighttime show like Happily Ever After or Fantasmic :sorcerer: I think that would be really magical. Which parks are you going to? That would help me narrow down some attractions and dining suggestions

@starbee oops didn’t realize there was a thread or that! and yeah we’re def gonna do happily ever after! we’ll be there for four days so we’re doing all the parks with park hopper.

You’re fine! That thread is more about what we as seasoned Disney guests have to do every trip :ears: but it may give you some inspiration for planning a trip with your first timer friend. Okay so if you’re doing all 4 parks, I would definitely recommend Pandora, especially at night! It’s so impressive to me and I think Flight of Passage may be the best thrill ride on property. Navi River Journey is immensely beautiful too. I would suggest getting some Disney snacks like a :dole: and :mbar:

@Julia your trip in August sounds exciting! :star: :star: Some things that I would totally show to ‘Disney newbies’ are:

    *Happily Ever After nighttime show
    *Fantasmic! nighttime show
*All of the Magic Kingdom Mountains! (space, thunder,&splash)
*The Land Pavilion attractions are REALLY impressive: Soarin & Living With The Land
*Show her all of the awesome Disney SNACKS!! Dole Whips :dole: , Mickey Ice Cream Bars :mbar: , Refillable popcorn buckets
*Show her the the HUGE World of Disney store and the awesome nightlife at Disney Springs !
*Festival of Fantasy parade at MK
*Take her on the Killimanjaro Safari at Animal Kingdom !!
*Go on a monorail resort tour… Grand Floridian, Contemporary, & Polynesian Resorts!

I hope these suggestions help! :minnie:

A lot of these suggestions here are all pretty solid choices! I’ll add a few more…

    – Do a character meal. My personal suggestion is Garden Grill in Epcot, but any of them work.
    – Explore World Showcase. All the pavilions are so unique and worth checking out in detail.
    – Kylo Ren encounter!!! It’s a scary kind of fun and doesn’t have too long a line that much
    – Winged Encounters at Animal Kingdom, for sure! Some of the animal trails are pretty neat too!
    – If they really have a genuine blast on a ride, like so so so much fun, take them on it again. I’ve taken a few friends on repeat rides and it created such good memories.

@SEJ101 we’re actually gonna do crystal palace! if it were up to me we’d do a character meal every day but she doesn’t want to LOL idk if we’ll meet kylo ren cause neither of us has seen any star wars movies, but we should totally do character meets! i didn’t even think of that!

Hands down, and without any doubt, Avatar is the best ride at the World. 7 minutes of pure stimulation.

Plan your trip around this fast pass. It is the first thing. Once this is scheduled, you know what day youre in AK. After that, pick your second most interesting attraction and schedule it. This kind of sets up the parks you visit.

This may sound counter-intuitive but avoid early opening parks if you can. The population on those days is greater, resulting in longer lines.

Food is highly personal. I personally think Akershus is a great place, but many people don’t have a palette for the food. You need to be honest with yourselves about what to eat. I recently went to WDW with my bestest best friend. However, his food tastes are horrible. He still thinks Olive Garden is Italian. Knowing this, I scheduled food at places he would eat.

    Other hints:
    1) Plan to wear 2 pairs of shoes each day. This will alleviate most of your foot fatigue
    2) Pack 1 suitcase with plastic spoons and bowls with cold cereal. I always get those single serving assortments. Each resort has milk in their little markets. Eat breakfast while getting ready. This saves a bunch of food costs. At end of trip, throw all the stuff away, voila, an empty suitcase for souvenirs!
    3) If you need help, Chelle is about the best resource you can use. My dad always said, when youre the gravedigger, it helps to know where the bodies are buried. Chelle knows WDW. She is worth it.

I was going to write out a list, but it seems @Acamm has already wrote out 95% of it for me haha, only thing i would like to add is Spaceship Earth, may not be the most thrilling in the world, but its storeytelling, scenes and the building its self are all brilliant
