    Hey!
What are your opinions on Disney’s live action remakes?
    Which ones are your favorite?
Are there any that aren’t the best?
Which ones are you looking forward too?

Mine is The Lion King, it will be the difference almost like the True Life adventure episode of The African Lion. :bulb:

i’m most excited for the ones that aren’t even in production yet! hunchback of notre dame and the little mermaid! it’ll be really interesting to see how they film the underwater scenes in the latter :ariel:

My opinion is it’s lazy film making. I don’t see the point in remaking classic movies when Disney has been putting out so many great original movies like Moana and Zootopia. They should keep doing that instead. I think it’s even more ridiculous when they make a “live action” that’s CGI like the Jungle Book and the Lion King. I thought Maleficient made sense as live action, but after that the others have just been milking the cash cow. I saw Cinderella only because my niece wanted to go and I don’t think I’ve seen any live action remakes since then. I wish they would stop already. I get that it makes money but don’t most Disney movies? It doesn’t have to be live action to be a blockbuster. Having said all that, Aladdin is hubby’s favorite movie and he wants to see the live action, so we’ll go to that one

I have mixed feelings. I do not think so many should be remade into live action. I saw Christopher Robin and loved it. I will go see Lion King. But that will be it for me I think.
Cant wait for Toy Story 4 though!

@dreamgirl2011 I also saw Christopher Robin, I don’t really consider that a remake, it was more of an original story with well known previously animated characters. I saw it more as a sequel

@starbee agreed! it wasn’t really a remake because it was an original movie, they weren’t remaking anything.. it was just another movie in the winnie the pooh franchise. but i LOVED that movie so much! i think i cried for 75% of it LOL

you’re so right about it being a cash grab… i mean i love it because i think it’s kinda cool to see them with real people, but like yeah it’s totally them just doing it for money. i wish they would make more original movies instead, but i’ll take what i can get. as much as i think the “live action” lion king is ridiculous, the voice cast is INCREDIBLE and they’ll definitely be getting my money with that one LOL

Ive seen Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast

I enjoyed Jungle Book. B&tB was horrid. She couldn’t act in Harry Potter, and she still cannot act now that she is grown up.

I actually enjoyed The Jungle Book way more than I thought I would. BatB was ok. I haven’t seen any of the others. Cinderella was never a favorite of mine and Maleficent was (IMO) different from Sleeping Beauty so I don’t really feel that it was a “remake” so much as a new movie since it was told from a different point of view, you know?

That said, I’m interested to see The Lion Ling. Aladdin looks meh and Dumbo isn’t getting great reviews which breaks my heart because I love that little elephant.

I have to agree with @starbee though. I’m tired of Hollywood just rehashing the same old stories whether its Disney or any other studios movies. Give me some original content! I’ll eat it up, I promise!

Maleficent was the only one I really liked, and even then I wouldn’t classify it as a remake too much. I enjoyed Beauty and the Beast after I saw it, but that has since worn off. I’m with @starbee, lazy cash grab. I nearly lost it when they announced Lilo & Stitch. That can’t look good. Same goes for the Kim Possible DCOM. WHY?!?!?!

You are kidding, right????? They will never get Stitch right :( Guess it just looks like they will redo them all at this point then. I am not really a fan of remaking anything, live action or not. Can we get an original idea anywhere?

Where will they draw the line?! And yes, I am in agreement with you on not being a fan of remakes in general. I minored in film in college and had to write a paper about that ;) without getting into a film studies rant, I personally think remakes are only warranted in unique situations, such as the original being in a different language from the remake.
