    Friday January 13th:
6am wake up. We got in a 2.4 mile run in full humidity. It was good to stretch our legs. We got ready for the day and had breakfast at our hotel. It was crazy busy since the 5K race was that morning. The new security was a breeze to enter at the top end of Downtown Disney. We had no wait at the turnstiles since they were allowing guests on Main Street. It was 8:40am and Disneyland opened at 9am. We were held until the opening announcement. Then off to Space Mountain with a 10 minute wait. Then Thunder Mountain with a 10 minute wait. Then Pinocchio in 3 minutes! Alice ride was a 20 minute wait. While we were in line, we saw actor Jason Schwartzman with his family. They had a Private Tour guide CM with them and went through the exit. We then went and picked up a Space FP for later. We walked through Launch Bay (I feel like it’s a bit bigger and better at Disneyland than it is at Hollywood Studios). We met Chewbacca with a 30 minute wait. We grabbed a chimichanga in Frontierland. Then grabbed beef and chicken skewers and a Tiger Tail bread at Bengal BBQ. In my nearly 30 years of going to DL, I had never grabbed a snack at Bengal BBQ! It was really tasty! And we cut the meat up after taking them off the skewers and it was a lot of meat! I then grabbed a Churro by the castle! Just in time to see the Disneyland Band perform. Mickey and pals joined in as well! They’ve really jazzed up the DL band performances! Very fun to watch! We then went to Small World and were on in 5 minutes. Then off to Single Ride on Matterhorn with a 5 minute wait (stand-by was 40 minutes). We then went and watched the Path of the Jedi movie clips while waiting for our Space FP time to open. By the time we were done, our Space FP were eligible. Love that it was still Hyper Space Mountain (Star Wars themed), so fun! We then did the Castle Walk through were you can see scenes depicted of Sleeping Beauty’s story (while walking inside and upstairs in the castle). Then over to Starbucks for a pick-me-up!

We took our drinks and walked over to California Adventure. It was around 2:30pm. We picked up Soarin FP’s for a return time of 5:30pm. We walked through some shops. We then went to Toy Story with a 40 minute wait. We both had high scores, but Ryan still beat me. We walked the Pier. Rode Little Mermaid with less than a 5 minute wait. Over to Carsland and walked the shops. We rode Luigi’s ride with a 20 minute wait. We got the Mombo for our dance song (same song we had in November). But it was still fun! It was about dinner time. I got broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl on the Pier. Ryan got Chinese food. Both were very yummy. It was a chilly day with a high of 60, so a hot dinner fit the bill! IT was time for our Soarin FP’s and used them at 5:50pm. We got the center section and loved that it didn’t distort the projections. We walked through lots more shops. We then went to Monsters Inc ride. A CM asked if it was just the two of us, we said yes, so she gave us a “Buddy Pass” which allowed us to enter at the exit. This ride has 3 rows per vehicle, and each row seats 2 adults. So the pass usually helps to you get on the ride sooner since they are trying to fill each car full. We waited less than 5 minutes. We walked more shops then back to Starbucks so I could pick up the SB California Adventure “You are here” mug. I’m so glad they had a register and cashier stationed right by the mugs so I didn’t have to get in the long drink ordering line! We picked up a Mickey toothpick holder for home. Ryan also got some caramel corn.

It was 7:15pm and we were getting tired. So we walked Downtown Disney and stopped in Sprinkles Cupcakes since it had just recently opened. I was happy to see they had a Gluten Free Red Velvet cupcake! I can eat gluten in limited amounts, so this was great for me! Ryan got a standard red velvet cake. We got them boxed to go. We stopped in a few more shops. Ryan picked up Boba Fett and Carbonite Han Solo socks at D-Street. He would wear the Boba Fett ones for the race on Sunday. We were back in our room at 8:20pm and ate our yummy cupcakes. They were fantastic! We stretched out and relaxed. Lights out by 10:30pm.

It was a fun and productive day for sure!! Yes, gluten issues are no fun. I can do it in small amounts and spaced out usually. Sometimes I just go overboard and am miserable. So it’s all about balance! The GF cupcake was so good!!!!!! We did get to Sprinkles at Disney Springs at WDW at the end of January too! I admit, I tend to overindulge on gluten at Disney because my favorite treats have it! But I do pay attention the day before a race! And I’m diligent on taking my probiotics, which seems to help more.

I agree, it would be great if they had more GF flavors of cupcakes, but man, that Red Velvet is good!!! Enjoy reading! I will try to finish up the last two days today!
