I thought of one other thing that makes me ask ???????. Why the different rates? Value – $13; Moderate – $19 and Deluxe – $24.
A parking space is a parking space and a vehicle is a vehicle.Like others have said, because they think they should cut you some slack if you’re at a Value but if you’re at a Deluxe you clearly have more
so they’ll make you drop it to park your vehicle
March 15, 2018 at 11:32 am #69684Bad form Disney. I hate to say they are slowly driving me away but with every cost increase and service chip away, it keeps pushing towards that.
Pretty soon you’ll only be able to go to Disney if you’re Oprah. The cost will be out of reach for the majority of Americans. I wonder how these price increases are affecting international tourists? Don’t they rely heavily on British and Brazilian tourists?
March 15, 2018 at 11:39 am #69685We are planning a few more trips through 2022, but after that we may look into selling our DVC ownership.
The HORROR!
I should have told the DVC sales rep we met with on our last trip that the reason we didn’t buy in was because of all these silly increases, extra charges, and other poor decisions. It makes me question if I will really want to keep going to Disney for years into the future or just for the short term. But I didn’t tell her that because I didn’t want to hear her stupid Disney-approved retort. Oh and she could never remember hubby’s name.
March 15, 2018 at 11:44 am #69686The last few trips, the parks have been just packed. Never have I witnessed the lines at the quick service restaurants and all attractions with lines. We were lucky to get in to see the Tiki Room last trip. I’m thinking, what is going on? Since they are so popular, I think that they are limiting themselves on purpose because people that will pay and because they can collect it.
That’s true, I think they rest on their laurels and think they can do whatever and people love Disney so much they’ll still beg to have Disney take their money
Not true. Yes I still go to Disney, but let me tell you, my visits to Universal Orlando have increased since the introduction of FP+. I got so
off at Disney after my 2015 trip, I took a vacation solely to UO the following year, instead of returning to Disney as previously planned. So while I’m still a customer of Disney’s, I’m no longer their exclusive customer. They can’t get so obnoxious to think things won’t ever change. As for the crowds, while that’s also true, I think FP+ has screwed with the wait times considerably. Rides that were notorious walk-ons now see waits higher than Tier 1 attractions
March 15, 2018 at 11:53 am #69689I’m sorry this is way out of line. I’m not sure where Disney is coming from other than the obvious greed. I stay and 4 star hotels all the time and rarely pay for parking unless you are in downtown Chicago or NY or other locations where ALL parking is a premium. To have Disney charge guests to park on property is really crossing the line in my book.
March 15, 2018 at 12:13 pm #69692I said this in one of the threads earlier but will state here in the forum as well because I believe it so strongly:
The company that all other companies once looked up to as the Gold Standard for Customer Service is transitioning into the company that willingly sacrifices customer service for a few dollars. They will come out ahead — for now. But this will eventually erode the very things that make them distinctive not only in the theme park industry, but across corporate America. They will eventually become a more expensive version of what you can get at many theme parks around the world, and this will hurt them.

So TRUE!

You are so right!!!
they are definitely choosing money over customer satisfaction these days, as if they need the money! Wouldn’t you want to uphold your image of being the gold standard for customer service?
March 15, 2018 at 12:52 pm #69703Supporter Status on D-COT and WDW YouTube videos are a lot cheaper.
March 16, 2018 at 1:23 am #69759So I wonder if this explains it. The new (and hopefully failing) streaming service and ESPN, etc. are now part of the same division as the parks. So they are going to make the parks float and recover the losses of these other components now. https://wdwnt.com/2018/03/breaking-disney-parks-and-resorts-absorbs-consumer-products-in-strategic-company-reorganization/
March 16, 2018 at 11:02 am #69797With the rising operating costs, insurance premiums, demanded salaries, maintanence, and upkeep I personally fully understand this decision. Does it suck? Yes but it’s a sign of the times and just about every other hotel around property is already charging. This will in no way effect attendance or cost them money. I will still go and park for free as a DVC member. If you really think about what you get for $100 something dollars a day to go to the parks for 12 plus hours it is still a good deal.

InactiveXPDisney lost sight of Walt’s vision long ago. This is just another example. They used to pride themselves on being the industry leader and creating new visions and ideas other businesses followed. Now, it looks like they are trying to be like everyone else.
And, yes, they are pricing the majority of Americans out. With increasing ticket and room prices plus added parking costs, we’ll more than likely stay off-property next time we go. We can stay off property as cheap or cheaper than two nights in a Disney resort. Makes more economic sense for us to stay off property.
Too bad Disney. Hmm, maybe they should really think about changing their name since many of their decisions are counter to what Walt would have wanted?
March 22, 2018 at 7:40 am #70433One more reason for me to stay off property and base my trips around Universal and make Disney the side trip. I never in a million years thought I would be saying that, but that’s how the last few trips have gone. Disney is for sure losing it’s appeal for me, to the point that I’ve started looking into cruises as my vacations. They don’t know what they are losing because I live 8 hours away, and by the time it’s all said and done, this year alone I will have made 7 trips to Disney/Universal in a 12 month span. That’s going to be it for me for a long while. It’s time to try something new.
March 22, 2018 at 8:16 am #70434luckily i already booked our June trip but this makes me
what the $22/day to park at the parks isn’t enough? this is what my hubby said about Disney “they keep increasing the costs like this and we will stop going”I also see nothing about AP
March 22, 2018 at 9:55 am #70442Charging for parking at resorts is crap anyway, but in my world this really, specifically, affects those with disabilities. Most people fly in and take advantage of the Disney transit system. But for people with disabilities, this isn’t always an option. Flying is very difficult for persons in wheelchairs and for persons with autism. So many drive.
Then many don’t take the transit system for the same reason. Hassle with space with wheelchairs, and the sometimes loud and unfamiliarity of buses for those with autism.
So this extra fee hits hardest on those who are already probably affected greatly by other inconveniences and costs.
It’s just another penny loaded onto the scale for those with disabilities. And I can guarantee no person at Disney thought of this at any given moment. -
