Agree! I love that place –
but getting really, really
pricey for everything you
touch there. On top
of ever-increasing tix prices.
March 14, 2018 at 2:03 pm #69555I hate it. and with talk of bumping up the prices of the length of stay passes, when will it stop?
WDW is my happy place but its really starting to price me out
It will stop when Iger’s out
I know what you mean, they’re only catering to the elite these days
March 14, 2018 at 2:04 pm #69556I was just about to post this link.
Personally, I fly there, so it doesn’t matter to me. I use the Magical Express. I may drive there one day, but that’s not an issue for now.
My sisters, on the other hand, tend to drive there, so…that really stinks for them.
March 14, 2018 at 2:05 pm #69557@grumpytude Don’t I know it!
@laprana Yes, and I bet the “DVC Members” excludes second hand buyersMarch 14, 2018 at 2:06 pm #69558Wow! As much as resort guests pay for rooms, meals, park tickets, etc. and that’s still not enough. Unfortunately, I knew it wouldn’t be long before Disney hotels copied the Las Vegas hotels in charging for parking.
I’m glad I always fly in and take the Disney Magical Express. (When will Disney start charging for that?) :
March 14, 2018 at 2:06 pm #69559So this brings up another question for Cast Members.
Cast Members get free parking in the parks.
Cast Members get discounts on most of the Resorts.
So will Cast Members get discounted or free overnight parking at the Resorts, or no discount? They have been cutting a lot of the CM discounts on dining.March 14, 2018 at 2:08 pm #69561Personally, I fly there, so it doesn’t matter to me. I use the Magical Express. I fly in too but we usually rent a car because we fly to Sanford not Orlando MCO, it’s cheaper from where we live.

You mentioning that just made me think they better not start charging a resort fee like Vegas!

@starbee, I bet you’re right! They’ll start saying free parking is a “perk” of buying direct!March 14, 2018 at 2:16 pm #69568I thought of one other thing that makes me ask ???????. Why the different rates? Value – $13; Moderate – $19 and Deluxe – $24.
A parking space is a parking space and a vehicle is a vehicle.March 14, 2018 at 2:19 pm #69570yeah, but even the
Tragical Express is less of a thrill/deal, as you now have to leave 4 hours early to MCO

@jlmct52, that’s a very good question!!March 14, 2018 at 2:41 pm #69580@jlmct52 It’s because that is the most Disney thinks they can gouge the customers at each type of hotel. The shareholders need to get every last cent you know.
March 14, 2018 at 2:54 pm #69583I think it is only a matter of time before Magical Express also becomes an additional cost.
March 14, 2018 at 3:23 pm #69585I’m afraid you are very right @abeach. And although DME has never been “free”, trust me, it’s built into the cost of the rooms, at least it wasn’t a separate fee. I see that coming very shortly.
This is a very bad idea. As I stated on some individuals posts, part of the appeal for staying on-site was you didn’t pay for parking at the parks. Well now that’s going away, you’re just paying at the hotel. That just makes it financially less appealing to stay on-site when it’s not a price break. The rooms are generally more expensive anyway but at least the free parking was a cost saving perk.
This doesn’t directly affect us, we fly and use DME. But that wasn’t always the case, nor could it always be in the future. And it indirectly affects us in that as they continue to charge for everything, service erodes.
Bad form Disney. I hate to say they are slowly driving me away but with every cost increase and service chip away, it keeps pushing towards that. -
