Do you have any simple, but effective things you do to make your trip to Disney and/or your park touring go more smoothly?

    For example:
    1. I tend to wear an old hoodie to Hollywood Studios (and probably will do the same at Animal Kingdom now) in the evenings that I plan on enjoying Fantasmic! (and next trip, Rivers of Light). I remove it when I find a seat, fold it up and sit on it for a handy bench cushion.

    2. We try to reduce our bags going into the parks to as few as possible so we’re not all waiting in the bag check line to get in.

I’d be interested to see what other tips, tricks, and hacks the rest of you use to make your trips better :)

Since we have had the stroller, some of our tips might not work for everyone.

    1) I usually wear sneakers, but if I know I’m going on Splash Mountain or Kali, I will bring flip flops to the park and change into them before I get on the ride. Then I’m not sloshing around in wet sneakers all day

    2) We bring the packets of Crystal Light that you mix in with a 20 oz bottle of water. We bring in our own water, and then we refill at the bubblers and use the packets so it doesn’t have that yucky “Florida water” taste. It also saves a ton when you have a kid that asks for lemonade at every single cart.

    3) Something little, but I always take a screenshot of my plans in MDE for that day, because sometimes MDE just won’t load and it takes a lot of battery to be opening up the app. Then I can see all my FP+ and ADRs and save some battery.

This is a great thread Jet! y’all have given some great tips already!

    1) Like @kcboston said about taking a screenshot of MDE, I do that too and also make an Excel spreadsheet that I carry around in case something happens to my phone (I dropped it last trip and it got pretty damaged)

    2) I carry a rechargable battery pack around with me because now that I’m using MDE all the time, my phone can’t make it from Rope Drop to almost park close on one charge

That’s about all I can think of right now. I’ll update if I think of something else :mickey:

    @starbee Thanks!

Silly me, I forgot that I keep a spreadsheet on me too with all our reservation and FP+ info on it. On certain days, I even keep it in a zip-lock bag just in case it gets wet on Kali River Rapids, Splash Mountain, or in some random Florida rain storm.

I buy the cheap 99 cent ponchos at Walmart and bring them to the park. they are small and compact and fit in my purse better than those big $15 disney ones.
i make each kid (girls, yea!) carry their own purses with “if lost call mom at xxx-xxx-xxxx” notes inside. also it allows them to carry some extra kleenex, etc and keep that stuff out of my purse!

We get those ponchos too! They are great, and you can just chuck them when you need to and you don’t have to dry out a poncho

glad to hear i’m not the only spreadsheet person. my hubby thinks i am crazy but i have a complete spreadsheet that has every day of the trip, which park we are going to, what our fast passes are, what our reservations are (and the number), which rides are closed, when are the fireworks, etc.

I’m totally a member of the spreadsheet crew as well!

Try packing a couple Brita filter sport bottles. They work great!

@jamiedawn27 – Yeah, that’s what’s on my spreadsheet too, pretty much verbatim. It’s color coded too LOL Some folks have even asked me to type them up for their trips.

You too? ;) Definitely spreadsheet! So handy to have in the pocket!

Jamie, I’d swear you were my wife just now!

In addition to these wonderful tips above, many of which we also do, we try to schedule two fastpasses in the same area, back to back, when we can. Hit one at the end and the other at the beginning of the windows. Saves criss-crossing.

I don’t have any tips to share but I was wondering what your plan of action is when you lose someone in your party, I have teen boys who tend to not pay attention to where we are going and/or wander off, I can use all the tips I can get!

For example, do you set up a meeting point somewhere specific (that’s assuming the kid knows how to get around the park) do you tell them to stay put if they realize they’re “lost”? My youngest thought he lost us then crouched into a ball next to a garbage can near the Star Tours gift shop, not the best way for me to find him! LOL (we were still in the shop but he couldn’t see us).

I am not sure if they’ll carry their cell phones, they’ll probably end up in my bag…

I would think Disney could locate them using the magic bands.
I wonder if when kids get lost and talk to a CM, the CM can scan the bands and keep them secure.
So when you talk to a CM and tell them about lost kids, they can scan your band look up the location of your kid’s bands ( hopefully still attached to the kids).

    Cool
