@RocketEAR99 at least you can make a trip worth your while or last minute decide it isn’t and save the money.

I’m sitting here with over $5000 in credits at David’s, a $1500 credit from the airline, and a $250 credit for travel insurance (since it doesn’t cover for a pandemic – oy vey). I have to wait 4-6 weeks to get my money back from Undercover Tourist for my tickets and they are keeping about $150 that I can “apply the next time i buy tickets from them”. Gee thanks. So I’m out thousands of dollars with nothing to show for it except maybe a future trip at an unknown date. Disney never sent me an email telling me my vacation was canceled…I got two emails that they were canceling my dining and that’s it. No comment about my hotel reservation, my FPs, nothing. My senior had a crappy end to her high school career and now doesn’t even get to go to Star Wars Land which she has been geeking out about since it opened. I’m sad for her, annoyed we get no summer trip, and ticked at Disney because for the first time I feel like they do not care about me as a long term customer. I always experienced wonderful Disney service…felt like I was important and Disney always made things right when they messed up. Now I don’t. I feel nothing.

Oh man, Jamie, I’m so sorry :( That’s all just absolutely ridiculous. Did David’s ever send you any email or anything about your hotel reservation being cancelled? At the VERY least, Disney would have sent an email to the DVC member whose points you rented, and they should have forwarded that to David’s, and if they didn’t, then that’s just bull. How long do you have to use your credits with David’s? If you want to start trying to plan a new trip to use those credits and want to know what availability is looking like, I’d be more than happy to log into my DVC account and look some dates, resorts, rooms, etc. for you. I really hope it all gets worked out…but yeah, right now that’s just a huge bummer. :(

Now (or at least through the remainder of 2020) is NO time for first-timers to go to WDW. It just isn’t!

Couldn’t agree more! That was the right move

@laprana yes David’s contacted me and i had the option to take a 3 year credit ($ not points) or lose it all. of course i took the credit. when i know better what the future holds (anyone have a magic ball?) i might reach out to you for a little help. you are so sweet to offer!

@julia we rented DVC points…we have been told we have 3 years to re-use them or lose them. also i only get one chance to use them so if i only use half i’m out the difference. not sure if the people we rented from got them back or what? unfortunately no reservations are being allowed now so i sit and i wait. travel insurance says “pandemic isn’t covered” so i have no choice but to wait and hope something shows up that works for my family

i know they haven’t seen this before but Universal is beating them out of the gate to open and from what i’ve seen/read isn’t messing with people’s reservations. i would have expected Disney to be the leader in this type of situation but from week to week they appear to be changing their minds and be behind the curve. just extremely disappointed with them right now and the way they are treating their customers

i want to amend my original comment lol, it’s definitely un-disney like the way they’re handling this situation, i didn’t realize the extent of it. in my opinion, i think they’re trying to see how universal handles it, so they can learn from their mistakes maybe. or like see if the “re-opening” of florida is gonna raise covid cases and that way if orlando has to “close” again then this way it’ll be before disney opened, do you know what i mean? but don’t get me wrong, if that really is what they’re doing they should have just either stay closed, or waited longer to make all these announcements/reverse decisions!
