AnonymousXPI am blown away by the love and support in this thread! a big thank you to @eagle90 for being super sweet in setting this up for me!
Welcome! Been there, done that, didn’t buy the t-shirt. I remember how it felt when I didn’t get mail and I don’t want to you to experience that while you’re there. Mail call is a great time and sometimes it was quite entertaining! It was always fun when someone would get a letter dunked in perfume. It was passed around for everyone to smell before the recipient got to open it. Care packages were the best though. That’s when the cookies and newspapers came. I think the newspapers were more appreciated than the cookies. Everything was shared so I didn’t get all the cookies to myself. Mom sent me the Perry Daily Journal and other folks read them even though they had no connection to my little town in OK. Just reading something other than Army stuff was great.
Anyway, again, you’re welcome. Hopefully you’ll get a ship date soon and the D-COT family can start sending you some mail. I fully expect you’ll be the most muscled up airman coming out of BMT after all the push-ups you may have to do from all the mail you’ll be receiving!

Funny that you joke about not buying the t-shirt – we are required to buy our Squadron’s t-shirt for the Airman’s Run! I’m sorry that happened, I appreciate you trying to help me avoid that!

Haha, it will be so worth it!

AnonymousXPWe were “required” to buy the t-shirt as well but I didn’t. Didn’t care that much back then. I wish I had one now but oh well. It would just sit in a footlocker anyway.
June 20, 2018 at 12:35 pm #80401I am almost done responding to everyone’s messages – thank you all!

AnonymousXPStarbee, how many folks so far?
June 20, 2018 at 5:54 pm #80475@Eagle90 15! Plus one straggler who hasn’t sent me their email, mentioning no names…
July 1, 2018 at 4:35 pm #81469I have my orders and I will be leaving for basic training very soon. If you’ve sent me a message with your email address, I’ve added you to my account and I’ve PM’d an acknowledgement back to you
I’ve had a few questions about how this works, so I’m going to try to go over it again very briefly. Basically when I arrive in my training squadron, Write2Them will send you an email saying I can now be reached and it will provide you with the email address to write to. (If you’d like that email address ahead of time, PM me). When you send an email to that address, it will be printed as a letter and mailed to me. I will not have access to a computer so I will not be emailing you back. Since it prints as a letter, it won’t show your email address, so please sign your emails with your name or I won’t know who’s writing to me if I have time, I will hand write back those of you who gave me your mailing address. You can include pictures too if you attach them to your email. They’ll print with your letter and get mailed together.
I really really appreciate you guys writing me! There is no limit to how often you can send me emails, and this won’t cost you guys anything. Emails are mailed out Monday-Saturday and you’ll get an email saying your letter was mailed. I’m sure you all are sensible enough to realize this, but please be careful about what you say when you write to me. If you include pictures, please be careful with those too, no funny comic strips that could look bad for example. EVERYTHING will be read by my military training instructor before I see it, so please don’t say anything like “I hope your MTI isn’t a jerk!” Oh and please don’t tell me how far I’ve fallen from the leaderboard in my absence
If you have any more questions about this – ask away!

July 2, 2018 at 3:14 pm #81567Ferg!! I don’t think she’ll be any lower than tenth, maybe not even that. There’s a huge gap.
