Ok… so who is making the final decision?!?!?!
Thanks Aimee! If Ferg doesn’t have a preference out of the 3 you chose, I will pick one out of your top three.
February 8, 2018 at 12:22 pm #65768@starbee that sounds great… and I’m sure that once a book is chosen, more D-cot pals will join!!
February 8, 2018 at 12:27 pm #65772My preference is not Hidden Figures unless that is what the majority wants. I only say that because I saw the movie 2x (and LOVED it!) and figure I’d rather read something I haven’t already experienced even though the book is probably even better.

I understand, and that’s fair, I am holding out on seeing the movie because I want to read the book first.
February 8, 2018 at 12:37 pm #65777The first book in the D-Cot Book Club will be – Wonder by R. J. Palacio
When would y’all like to start? I know @Acamm you can get the book instantly. Others may be renting or ordering and need some time to acquire the book.
February 8, 2018 at 12:39 pm #65778Speaking of books you need to read before you see the movie: Ready Player One. If you like any of the following: 80s movies, video games, sci-fi, witty references, treasure hunts – then that is a must read!

Yes to Sci-Fi, 80s movies and witty references. I didn’t know that was a book but of course it would be!
February 8, 2018 at 12:49 pm #65782I will likely need to order it. I will check with my daughter when she gets home from school. She is a HUGE reader so we may already own it.
February 8, 2018 at 12:52 pm #65783I would also like to suggest that once we are ready to start, we start a fresh thread for each book so that people can stay informed via this thread when a new one is starting each time and be a part of those discussions, but if they choose not or can not participate in a particular book, they don’t have to weed through all of the notifications of the actual book discussion once that begins. Does that make sense? I’d hate for someone to unsubscribe because they are skipping one book and then miss the launch of the next one.
February 8, 2018 at 12:54 pm #65784@starbee I actually listened to the audio book for Ready Player One. It makes a reference to Wil Wheaton who actually read the book on the audio. I found that rather amusing
February 8, 2018 at 12:58 pm #65786Awesome! I just purchased it on Amazon Kindle, it is currently loading onto my app! The Kindle version is only $9.99.
Ok, its finished loading… and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that the first page is the lyrics from Natalie Merchant song “Wonder”.
Doctors have come from distant cities
just to see me
stand over my bed
disbelieving what they’re seeing
They say I must be one of the wonders
of God’s own creation
and and as far as they see they can offer
no explanation.YAY! When do we get to start reading!?!? I’ve never been in a book club before! Do we only read 1 chapter at a time? I read really fast I’m so excited!!!
February 8, 2018 at 1:12 pm #65787@rocketear99 Wil Wheaton I love that the trailer for Ready Player One ends with a Back to the Future soundbite

I think that’s a great idea! Once we begin I’ll create a new thread
February 8, 2018 at 1:18 pm #65789@Acamm Thanks for joining me! let’s give Ferg a chance to get the book and if anyone else cares to join, that will give them some time to jump in too. You can read at whatever pace you’d like, I was thinking about allowing 1 month to read the book? That gives everyone a good amount of time to keep up. I will start a new thread just for this book. I was thinking we would discuss once we’ve finished reading, that way we can all discuss at the same time and people won’t be excluded if they’re behind, and no one will accidentally read spoilers if the discussion starts immediately and we’re all at difference places in the book. But I’m open to other suggestions! I haven’t done this before either!
February 12, 2018 at 12:44 am #66154The book will arrive at my house on Tuesday!
