I am going to throw some suggestions out there if anyone is interested in joining me for D-Cot Book Club
Here are some books I am wanting to read:
-Hidden Figures
-Wonder
-Beneath A Scarlet Sky
-The Glass Castle
-Before We Were Yours
-Lilac GirlsIf anyone is interested in reading any of these, or if you have any other suggestions of books you’ve been wanting to read, let me know and maybe we can get started!
February 7, 2018 at 12:53 pm #65520Yay! I will look up these books tomorrow and see. Can’t today as I am about to head out. I have a 3 hour drive to a presentation and then a three drive back home. Can’t wait to see what others say too!

I can give you the authors’ names if you need it. Ugh, I don’t envy that at all! Good luck!
February 7, 2018 at 1:03 pm #65523Glass Castle is really good.
I am interested in keeping tabs on what you all read (always looking for good suggestions), but with 3 under the age of 7 my ‘me time’ is limited.

It sounds really good! I can imagine your me time is limited! If you’re looking for a good suggestion, I am currently reading The Handmaid’s Tale and I just can’t get enough!!!

February 7, 2018 at 4:04 pm #65674@Acamm I don’t want to be a dictator so I’m seeking input from others on which book to choose I got Wonder for Christmas and I have a couple of the other books also.

February 7, 2018 at 4:28 pm #65678I’m open to any book, and my top 2 picks from the above list are Wonder (which @starbee has and @grumpytude MIGHT have!?!?) or Hidden Figures.

That’s sad he didn’t enjoy it. I think the story is a very important lesson for children.
February 8, 2018 at 11:51 am #65759I’m open to anything that isn’t a true blue romance book. I’m so behind on reading I don’t even know what is out there and who is writing what anymore. I’m just excited to read a book again as it has been too long and I miss reading. I just need to know which book to order!

I also missed reading which is why I decided to get back into it this year. I’m with you, I’m not really into romance novels and nothing on my list falls in that category. I don’t know a whole lot about what’s out there, and the last book I read was from 1962 and the book I’m reading now is from 1985 so nothing recent
Here’s a short overview of my suggestions:
Hidden Figures – this is about female, African American scientists and mathematicians working for NASA, a true story
Wonder – a book about a young boy with a facial deformity facing the world, especially school for the first time
Beneath A Scarlet Sky – another true story about a war hero in Italy during WWII
The Glass Castle – a memoir about a woman who was raised by nomadic parents
Before We Were Yours – two overlapping stories about girls who were taken from an orphanage, based on a real life scandal
Lilac Girls – a story about three women’s experiences in Poland, France and Germany when WWII breaks out (fiction)February 8, 2018 at 12:17 pm #65766My 3 choices:
Hidden Figures – this is about female, African American scientists and mathematicians working for NASA, a true story
Wonder – a book about a young boy with a facial deformity facing the world, especially school for the first time
Before We Were Yours – two overlapping stories about girls who were taken from an orphanage, based on a real life scandalOk… so who is making the final decision?!?!?!
