Throwing this idea out there, @nancyg mentioned a while back about maybe starting a D-Cot Book Club. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing that? We could read a mix of genres, including but not limited to Disney. We could either start a thread to share thoughts and reviews, or even have some kind of live stream through Periscope or Skype or something
UPDATED TO ADD:
We are starting a D-Cot Book Club! We will have a new book each month, selected by the participants. Feel free to join in whenever you want! There will be a new thread for each book with information on the start date of the club. Discussion will take place in the book specific thread. This thread will be used for general questions and ideas on the book club, as well as suggesting future reads. I will also announce the next book in this thread before starting the separate discussion threadThe first book was Wonder by R. J. Palacio. and you can join the discussion here
December 29, 2017 at 3:17 pm #60740I would be interested in giving it a go. I used to read all the time until I stopped traveling with my job. I kind of miss it. Haven’t been in a book club before so that could be fun and would be a good motivator to get me to reading again as I really enjoy it.
December 29, 2017 at 4:27 pm #60746@Ferg I’m the same way! I used to read all the time until college. I was a philosophy major so I still did a ton of reading but it was all philosophy texts I was told to read, it wasn’t reading for pleasure, although some of the books I read remain my favorites to this day! I rented them to save money but now I need to buy The Republic and Fear and Trembling because I could read those over… I digress. I’d like to get back into reading for pleasure. I plan to do that regardless (hubby got me some books for Christmas) but it might be fun to read together. One of my favorite parts about studying literature was discussing and debating what I’d read with peers. I’ve never been in a book club either, I think it would be fun!

bexruns374 XPI love reading so I’m totally in. I’ve read a few Disney related books (I suggest Disney War if you haven’t read it) but mostly I read murder mystery/thrillers. Super un-Disney
December 29, 2017 at 5:22 pm #60760I’m going to look into that one! Of course I would be fine with some Disney titles, but I would aim to have a mix of genres. But no romantic novels

missingWDW183 XP@starbee I’m in! I’ll read anything. But it looks like I’ll save the Nicholas Sparks for my own personal reading interest
a good love story
December 30, 2017 at 10:14 am #60784@missingWDW you said you love a good love story. Meee too. Have you read any of Colleen Hoover’s books? In my opinion she’s the best!
December 30, 2017 at 10:18 am #60785I used to read allll the time. That has since changed since I had Cole. I’m trying to read while on Christmas break. I’ve actually read 50 pages of a book. That hasn’t happened in a long time. I miss reading.
December 30, 2017 at 10:46 am #60787@missingWDW @disneybug Each to their own! I don’t personally like them (long story) although I did enjoy reading A Walk to Remember, but I’m thinking more that we may lose Ferg if we choose a romance novel

I get it. I’m super busy with Air Force training right now and then of course at some undisclosed time I will be shipping out for basic training and tech school, but I still want to read as much as I can. If we did this it would be pretty laid back. I’m thinking 1 maybe even 2 months to read each book, that way no one gets stressed out trying to keep up

bpellinen292 XPI enjoy reading. I almost always have a book I’m reading. Right now, since it was just Christmas, I am rereading some of my favorite Christmas books.
December 30, 2017 at 10:55 am #60791I wouldn’t expect y’all to pick a romance novel. I was only suggesting Colleen Hoover since she said she loves love stories. Honestly, I probably won’t participate. Right now I really don’t have time for it. I do love the idea of it. I’ll probably check in and see what y’all are reading and how it’s going.

I get it, I didn’t want you to think I was disrespecting y’all for liking those books that’s okay, you’re welcome to drop in, maybe read a book here and there if you’d like, or participate in discussion if you’ve already read something

No but I will check her out!
And just to clarify, it’s the love stories I enjoy. Not the smut novels
But to anyone who does enjoy those….read on baby! Like @starbee said, to each their ownDecember 30, 2017 at 2:50 pm #60801I would be interested too ! I read while waiting for my kids to come out of school and at home to wind down too.
