Yes! I totally agree that there is a level of anxiety there. Sometimes I feel like Walt is looking down and just shaking his head. Not all the time but I think this would definitely be one of those time. The Jungle Cruise was one of his creations. He loved it.

    Please don’t hate me, buuuuuuuuuuuut….

I’m not a fan of the ride. Although this usually depends on the Skipper, the jokes seem dumber and dumber the more I do it. I think the ride has great concepts and don’t mind its existence, I don’t want to see it change :hmmph:

… there are some rides that are basically out of play when you talk about change. JC is an original and its design was heavily influenced by Walt…

I think with current Disney brass, nothing is out of play; and Walt’s influence, vision, ideals or just about anything else, is nothing more than a line in a press release statement to them.

    Here is why I disagree

Certain rides are iconic Walt. It’s a Small World, PotC, and JC. These are rides that were Walts favorites and ones he was very involved in the design of. While I can see additions, Jack Sparrow, princesses etc, I dont see them changing all that much

While the cruise itself may take on a different feel, I remember when they changed the look of the boats to be more authentic, I think the general ride will remain the same.

I really hope they don’t change it ! The rock would be interesting to see in that movie

Surely if they change the Ride to suit the movie then you can’t say it’s based on the attraction? I wouldn’t mind if the imagineers incorporated some elements of the movie throughout the attraction but to completely change it would be sad. It will also mean Magic Kingdom will be under construction once again, :smirk: .

So interesting. I do love the Jungle Cruise, and love that there is an actual human in your boat, but if they stink it totally ruins it. Then again, how motivated can they be if they are only making something like $12 an hour! (total guess on my part)

Is this just for WDW or an across the board rumor?

All Disney theme parks around the world.

I wish the handful of older attractions would just stay as they are and not be updated or changed. The classics like Peter Pan, Jungle Cruise, Small World. Not always good to be the mind set of out with the old and in with the new.

I agree, as we say here, don’t fix what ain’t broke ;) if attractions are still popular, what does it matter that they’re “old”? Bugs me more though when they change rides to be like movies. POTC was the only Disney ride turned movie that was even a success, so don’t count your eggs before they hatch Disney.

I’ve also heard “I did not have sexual relations with that women”, “read my lips no new taxes” , and countless other lies every day. I will not be surprised in the least if this happens. Disney has been ona role lately with ruining everything by over themeing everything to the movies they put out. Here’s to hoping they consider saving the classics that have made them the best in the buiisness!!

Ah, but small world and peter pan have changed.

Tony Baxter was interviewed when they upgraded Fantasy Land at DLR in the 80’s. He was worried because that was Walts favorite land. After the changes people commented on how it felt like there was no change. Both Peter Pan and Small World have changed yet people dont even remember, the rides feel the same. This is because the feel never changed. I see the same thing happening to JC.

In my opinion, I love the Jungle Cruise. I also love Dwayne. I believe I read somewhere that disney wasn’t going to change the Jungle Cruise entirely. So what I am thinking/hoping/praying is that Disney just adds a couple of animatronics of the Rock and leave the classic originality parts alone!

I’m of course in the unpopular opinion camp and it wouldn’t bother me to see this ride changed at all. It’s one of those rides, while classic, it’s just too cheesy and boring for me so I only do it about every 3rd trip or so. A really good friend of mine was a jungle cruise skipper at DLR and still keeps in contact with his old buddies from back in the 70’s. He’ll be crushed to hear this rumor. I can hear the cussing now. lol
