Pop does have free dining (well at least they have in the past). We are booked there in September and hoping for free dining. However, if free dining comes with having to add the hopper, then we might have to switch to one of the All Stars.

Thanks for reminding me of this detail, @monkcline, in order to get the free dining I would need to get three park hopper tickets at the regular price and the difference between that and the discounted 7 day ticket (non hopper) works out to how much I would spend on food! So really, the only thing “free dining” would give me is the ability to park hop but we prefer to stay at one park per day. Hmmm. Unless they don’t require the package to have hoppers…I am thinking I should just get the 25% off tickets before the end of May, no expiry, so that would work.

    @nascfan
, even I am veering from the subject now haha!

The dining plan is a very tricky thing. They SAY it’s “free” but you have to pay full price for the room. Sometimes it’s cheaper to get the room documented and pay for dining (usually in the case of deluxe resorts). AND, sometimes, it doesn’t pat to get the dining plan at all! Especially now with the price increase!

Pop is usually included. LM rooms at AOA are NOT but the suites are. Sometimes, it’s not a full dining lan, it’s only one quick service meal per day that’s “free”. SO, there are a ton of factors! That’s why I use a special calculator to figure out dining costs to see what’s the most cost effective for my clients! ;)

Disney no longer offers no expiration tickets.

And, like we talked about, CM discount pretty much always trumps any public discount ;)

The 25% off deal for Canadians showed no expiry earlier this week, now when I look it says use by December 2018 (which still works for us, yay!) but I will double check that info and see what the real answer is.

With the new ticket price increase they also took away the no expiration ticket. If Dec 2018 works for you, that’s great!

Disney got back to me and they confirmed that tickets must be used by December 31, 2018. So the no expiry deal went away and was replaced with this one.

We felt that way about All Stars back in fall of 2015. We have since moved up to Moderates. We stayed at Zfrench Quarter and absolutely loved the grounds. They were so well kept! But our room felt tired and in need of a refresh. We’ve since stayed at Riverside and Caribbean Beach and both of those rooms and grounds were very well kept. So I think it may be Resort specificband which ones are in line for reverbs. Caribbean beach had been recently updated and it showed inntge rooms.

I think it gets hard for CM’s because so many people are rude and inconsiderate anymore. It’s hard for them to keep up with so many people littering and not caring how they leave their mark on the parks. It makes me sad. For the most part, I saw CM’s doing their best to keep up on things.

POFQ has been need of referb since we stayed in 2012… Still beautiful, but it was the first that I had noticed things like cracks/patches on walls and excessive coats of paint, as well as some minor toilet issues…

Cleanliness has been on the downturn for some time as well, and I think it is a combination of many factors including reduced staffing, less committed cast members, increasingly disrespectful (messy) guests, plus a declining ability to enforce rules that can effect the park’s cleanliness.

@nascfan, I am considering Pop even though it’s slightly more expensive per night, it would come out to a days meals for the three of us. If we get lucky and get free dining then it would be a non issue! Does Pop have free dining? @chelle told me Animation Mermaid rooms never have it, not sure about Pop.

Pop or AoA are both solid choices!

I just stayed at Music in January and we had the same experience. Overall the resort itself looked very nice, our room was looking old. Our carpet was really worn and dirty looking and my bed was soooo lumpy and it made loud noises when I got in and out of it like it was on old wood slats. I didn’t realize that I could have complained and they would have brought me another mattress. I vowed not to bother with a value anymore when for the same price I could stay at a really nice 4 star off property. The bubble is nice but I don’t really take advantage of the food courts or the busses so I’m just wasting my money really. I like to hop in my car and be there. The busses take FOR_EV_ERRR! lol

@Disneydana did you find AS Music to be obnoxiously loud? We stayed there on our honeymoon (was a last-second trip and a CM friend hooked us up). We had a preferred room by the pool, but between the music and the people… It was loud from about 7am to 3am every day.

No I didn’t notice a lot of noise but I requested top floor in the Broadway section to avoid that as much as possible.

I don’t want to sound snobbish by any means, but I am not a fan of any of the All-Star/Value Resorts. I think I would rather stay off property at a nearby chain hotel than stay there.

The last time we stayed at Pop Century was my only time and I was not a fan. The room was decent, but the food court seemed rushed with not may “great options” other than fast food type stuff. The resort seemed dirtier as a whole as compared to other parts of property.

It could have been the time of year, but they will not be on our list to stay.

I think we will go to AoA resort just to see the displays outside, but that is about it.

When were you there last @unphiltered? I find that there are many “healthy” dining options in the value food courts, sure they’re busy and sometimes completely nuts, that’s for sure but they often have salads made to order or healthy protein and veggie combos if you’re trying to stay away from high carbs.

With the dollar being what it is for us Canadians these days, the only option is to stay at a value to get the onsite perks (ME, transportation, EMH). I can’t justify the upgrade to a moderate. I don’t mind the values at all, but noticed it wasn’t as shiny and well maintained as I would have hoped!

We are staying at AoA this June…I hope that even though it is considered “value” of sorts that the quality is higher than the All-Stars. Truthfully i just thought the Cars rooms look fun and i was excited at 3 beds and 2 baths!!
