Rumor Updates (January 2020): Kenobi on Hold, New Epcot Films, and Galaxy’s Edge Updates
Kenobi on hold. R2-D2 appears. The Millenium Falcon gains FastPass and may face a new challenge. Epcot debuts new films. Avatar rumored to expand.
The landscape of rumors is forever shifting. In this monthly series, we’ll take a look at all the new updates to the articles pertaining to rumors. January sure went by fast, and with that came lots of new updates, especially with Star Wars!!!
A Long Time Ago, in an Expansive Stand-Alone Galaxy Far Away
The new Kenobi series was set to begin filming when the crew was sent home and the show was put on hold “indefinitely.” Rumor has it that the series was put on hold indefinitely so the script could be revised and be at its best. There was mass outrage over the news until Kenobi himself (Ewan McGregor) chimed in saying the show’s release date will remain the same and that the public outcry was ridiculous. Well, he didn’t say ridiculous exactly, he used a much less… friendly word.
Also rumored for the show is the appearance of everybody’s favorite character, Jar Jar Binks. If this is true, it’s also rumored that Jar Jar will feature a beard to show that time has passed.
The Rumors of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: Wireless Chargers
R2-D2 can now be seen roaming around both Batuu-s! It appears to be the same model as the one that can be purchased from the Droid Depot for a mere $25,000. C-3PO is also rumored to be making appearances soon as well. In fact, he did appear with R2-D2 in Batuu during Disneyland’s 80’s Nite After Hours event. While these are small steps, they could lead to more droids in the land.
The Rumors of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: FastPass+++
Starting February 19, guests will be able to use FastPass on Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. Fortunately, it is included in the FastPass experience and does not require an additional fee to obtain. With this addition comes a restructuring of the FastPass tiers for Disney’s Hollywood Studios with the Falcon and Slinky Dog Dash belonging to Tier 1, meaning you can only pick one. This has widely been regarded as a good move because the previous Tier 1 selections consisted of every ride except Star Tours – The Adventures Continue.
Experimental Projection Camera of Tomorrow
Digital signage was installed across the park for the new shows, including the time left until the next showing. The three new shows also debuted (Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360, Awesome Planet, and the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along). A new exhibit debuted in the Palais du Cinema focusing on the history of theater, including costumes and even the characters from the live-action Beauty and the Beast. Impressions de France also returned, this time in beautiful 4K.
Despite what was believed for all of last year, the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along and Impressions de France do not run back to back. Rather, the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along runs from 11:00am-7:00pm and Impressions de France runs from 7:30pm to park close. Some fear this means Disney is testing Impressions de France’s popularity to debate whether it should be removed. There is still no word for Wondrous China, although I imagine it will be much longer of a wait after both the Hong Kong protests and now the Coronavirus.
A New and Wild Ride Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom
The expansion for Pandora – The World of Avatar has been brought up again. The expansion is now rumored to leak into the Cast parking lot for Disney’s Animal Kingdom and include a high capacity indoor attraction. However, the land is in competition with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge with the prize being the money needed to build any expansion. If true, the expansion would debut alongside the upcoming Avatar sequel. You know, the one that was supposed to be released years ago.
The Rumors of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: Hondo’s New Shipments
A new mission is rumored, this one being different from the ones discussed in the original article. Details are unknown, but it’s rumored to include components from the hit show The Mandalorian. Very vague, but very promising.

That and if you jam pack it to the point that every minute is booked.
