REVIEW: Exclusive Taste of Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood

Exclusive all-new rooftop dining experience at Toledo.

Disney offered Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members an opportunity to experience the all-new restaurant and lounge located at Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. The two available dates are Thursday, July 25 and Thursday, August 1, 2019. Included with this private event were chef-selected menu highlights featuring delectable options such as Rioja-braised Chorizo, Chilled Marinated Mussels ‘Escabèche,’ Savory Churros, Scallops, Hangar Steak, House Boards and ‘Café con Leche’ Profiterole.

The event began at 8pm. We arrived at 7:45 and walked to the elevator. There was a sign letting Guests know a private event was happening upstairs and that both the restaurant and the lounge would be closed.

After riding the elevator to the 16th floor, we were greeted by two cast members who welcomed you. We approached the check-in desk where we provided the last name on the reservation. The Cast Member shared with us information on what the night entailed.

The first place to check out was Dahlia Lounge. We enjoyed a sparkling wine as we traversed the lounge. The outdoor seating area offers a magnificent view of the property.

The decor inside the lounge is simply stunning.

The food offering during this special event were two samples from the lounge menu: Chilled Marinated Mussels “Escabeche” and Olive Oil-poached Tuna with Lemon. Both were delicious, especially with the wine.

Pictured above is the sparkling wine and tuna.

After finishing the wine, Dahlia Lounge was offering their Gran Gin Tonic specialty. It was yummy! Can you say “incoming buzz”? ????

Then it was time to enter Toledo. Talk about atmosphere; this place has it all! In keeping with the style of the Gran Destino Tower, you can definitely see all the Spanish-inspired decor. The following photos were taken on a different day so the restaurant is empty.

I walked around the restaurant to see the different types of foods available. We sat down and Michael immediately came over to assist. He had a vast knowledge of all the food on the menu; how it was prepared, cooked and served. We were impressed! He served us one of everything offered that evening.

Afterwards we headed back to the Dahlia Lounge where we could get coffee and muffins. The muffin is served at the Barcelona Lounge in the lobby, but for this event they were serving it here. Cast Member Aubri was so animated and made preparing our coffee so much fun! We made sure to throw a #CastCompliment to both Michael and Aubri.

Overall Experience

Attending special events like these, we believe, are lots of fun to do. You get to experience a restaurant like never before (especially with unlimited everything!). There is one more Toledo event happening this Thursday, August 1st. If you can snag a reservation we say “GO FOR IT!”. We would totally go back again. Seriously, the food was that good. But, we’ll be busy writing our review of how Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was. We’re attending the first spot of the preview this Thursday!
