The “Return to Sleepy Hollow” Experience

Last night, @Chelle and I enjoyed the new Disney experience called “Return to Sleepy Hollow”. It is held at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. They have two tiers of tickets, premium and general admission. It’s a small audience of only 60 people which made for a nice and quiet experience. We parked at the guest lot in the front of the resort and took the shuttle bus to the settlement. From there you had to follow the mulch path to the Tri-Circle-D Ranch (which is the Mickey logo… three circles :ears: ).

As we approached the barn, cast members were there to greet us with a smile. They start by taking your picture in front of the banner.

After we checked in we received our limited edition collectible pins. They only made 3,200 of these.

As we made our way into the stable, they offered us pre-bagged popcorn to enjoy while we watched the 1949 Disney animated classic film “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. We took our seats in the last row (by the nice big fan). The countdown began before the movie started. As it reached 5 seconds, everyone in the room counted down “5… 4 … 3… 2… 1…”.

When the movie ended they had a pretty awesome reveal of the Headless Horseman. The movie screen ascended into the rafters of the barn and we were presented with two big barn doors. Cast members opened them up as smoke bellowed throughout the stable. When the smoke cleared we saw him… that scary headless being atop a mighty steed.

The cast members ushered us row-by-row to take pictures with him. Since we were in the last row, we were able to get a more intimate experience with the beast.

The Return to Sleepy Hollow is running for two more extended weekends: October 19-23 and 26-31, at 8 and 10 p.m. General seating costs $22 per person, while premium seating, which includes a Halloween treat bag, costs $38 per person. The general ticket was perfect for us. This experience is a good fit for any family.

  1. I’m not really sure how I missed this a year ago! :surprised: Thanks for the review! This is something we really wanted to do last year but didn’t have time to squeeze in. If it continues, we will definitely look into doing it again!
