The Vice President of Disney Springs, Matt Simon, announced yesterday (May 7, 2020) that Disney Springs would be doing a phased reopening on May 20th.

Following the guidance of government and health officials, a limited number of shopping and dining experiences that are owned by third-party operating participants will begin to open during this initial phase. The rest of Walt Disney World Resort will remain closed, including theme parks and resort hotels.

Since Disney World remains closed, most likely the Guests visiting Disney Springs will be Florida residents. The official note from Disney mentioned “the use of appropriate face coverings by both Cast Members and Guests”. I imagine as you enter Disney Springs if you’re not wearing a face mask you will either be asked to leave or purchase one of Disney’s face masks. This would be a brilliant marketing move.

There was no mention of which shops and restaurants would be reopening. The only information provided was to check DisneySprings.com as we get closer to May 20.

  1. Some stores will open but Disney brands won’t, however AMC Theater’s might open with select seats available besides full capacity.

  2. Yeah the Disney stores not opening is a big sign for me…
