Legend Burnett “Burny” Mattinson

Burnett “Burny” Mattinson. 83 years old. Inducted as a Disney Legend in 2008. Still working for the Studios as of this day. Amazing!

Burny quite possibly could have his hands in more Disney projects then any other Disney employee…… EVER!

Animator, Producer, Director, Writer, Traffic, Inbetweener, Story Board Artist, Supervisor of Story, Character and Art. Well over 20 Features not the least of which are: Winnie the Pooh, Mary Poppins, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, and as recent Big Hero 6 and Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2.

On June 4th Disney celebrated this great contributor to the Disney Legacy, his 65th year working for the Studios. Again, still working……..

There isn’t enough room in a short article to detail all the successes and accomplishments this great artist has contributed to for the Disney Studios. He spoke of the first time he met Walt Disney with laughter:

“Good Morning Mr. Disney”. Walt turned to him and said, “It’s Walt son”.

There are few people left in the stables who carry the historical knowledge, the story, the feel, the love of the Disney. The legacy of this great organization are people like Burny, whose love of what they do, continue to roll out great entertainment. He is 83 years old, and still doing what he loves.

Thank you Burny Mattinson. You have given generations of families a legacy of entertainment. You have been a part of our families as we all run to the theaters or when we sat down on Sunday evening. In some way, you were there. We are lucky to have experienced your artistic contributions to a Legacy, and no amount of thanks can return to you, what you have given to us.

  2. Wow! I think it speaks volumes that while some of these legends could retire, they keep working. They truly love what they do and I think that has a lot to do with why they’re so successful :ears:
