Paddlefish Experience at Disney Springs

Last night we were invited to dine at Paddlefish with their Executive Chef Steven Richard Steven Richard located in Disney Springs. From start to finish, the staff was friendly and the food was delicious. Let’s go through our experience together.

First, you are provided bread with cinnamon butter as you look over your menu. The butter was definitely something I’ve never experienced before, but I liked it!

Next we ordered some adult beverages, of course! ???????? I had the Key Lime White – Local Ale while the others enjoyed a Captain Handsome (Cathead vodka, fresh raspberries, Framboise, thyme) and an Old Fashioned (Stillhouse Black bourbon, Grand Quina, orange bitters, splash black cherry juice).

I sampled them and they were refreshing. If you don’t know, I’ve been going around Disney Springs tasting every offering of the Old Fashioned to see which one I like the best. Paddlefish’s ranks in the Top 10. ???? Congrats!

The starters we enjoyed were the Lobster Bisque (sherry cream), Crab Cake (Maque choux, fried green tomato, remoulade), Lobster Corn Dogs (Sweet chili aïoli) and Chilled Trio (Peel-n-Eat Key West Shrimp, Crab Ceviche, Ahi Tuna Poke, Tortilla Chips).

Out of the three, the Lobster Corn Dogs were the best. The batter it’s fried in reminded me of the local fair (and that’s a good thing). If you enjoy the Fish & Chips from Yorkshire County Fish Shop at Epcot, then you will love these. ???? The Lobster Bisque was not too “fishy” which is what I look for in this type of soup. It was not too salty either. ???? The Crab Cake was delectable and served over the fried green tomato is something I’ve never seen before. ????

For my entrée I went with the Linguine & Clams (Cedar Key littlenecks, white wine, garlic, lemon, parsley). I enjoy this dish, but it’s also my grandfather’s favorite meal so I decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did!

Linguine & Clams

The lemon garlic butter was absolutely amazing! They provide you a bowl for your clam shells. The clams were good, but I have to say that the sauce was … mmmm … good.

One of the guests decided on the Scallops (Cauliflower purée, crispy Brussels sprouts, bacon). I tried one of these and it was very good!

Another entrée was the Catch of the Day (Shrimp and scallop corn bread stuffing, cauliflower purée, asparagus, caper beurre blanc). The fish was Halibut. I was able to try the shrimp and scallop corn bread stuffing from this and it was mmm mmm good.

Now it was time for dessert. We decided to sample three items: Flourless Chocolate Cake (Mascarpone, raspberry coulis), New York-style Cheesecake (Farm-fresh strawberry compote) and Key Lime Pie (Graham cracker, torched meringue). All three of these were delicious. If I had to rate them in order of most enjoyable it would be cheesecake, pie and cake.

The overall experience was incredibly positive! If you have the opportunity to dine at Disney Springs and are looking for rooftop-level, waterfront seating, this is your place! Paddlefish is also an iconic restaurant, bar and special events venue located aboard a reimagined, modern and luxurious steamboat docked on the shores of Lake Buena Vista. Special thanks to Executive Chef Steven Richard for inviting us!
