Did you use a tripod?

Nikon D40. shot test track without a pod. used a Monopod for Germany. As much as it helps...still tough to hold steady. I have more Germany shots i'll post.

Most definately and its dropping in price!@$450-$500. Most of my friends will tell you to get a Cannon, but i like the Nikon.(price drop of course due the newer model coming out) i purchased a refurbished telephoto from http://www.adorama.com/ 70-300 for $109.00 works awesome! its easy to learn, and quick to change settings.

I had a Canon Rebel XTi and just sold it yesterday for $500. That was with a LOT of accessories though. Look around, you'll find a great price on a used one.

I would love to get into photography. It's so relaxing and helps you find your Zen. The hard part is finding that time. Good luck with your purchase DisneyTiger!

I just wanted to let you know that I took your advice and got a D-40 right before we left for our trip. I was very intimidated by it and almost left it at home. Boy am I glad I didn't! I got some amazing shots. Thanks so much for the heads up. Here's my fav pic...

glad to hear! um, did i miss the photo? i'll keep an eye out....

i still practice in different lighting, flash on, flash off, etc. it seems that just when you think you figured it out...it has more to it. quick tip: if you ever find your trying to get a shot and the camera can't decide on where to focus (auto focus) or it focus's and instead of taking the picture it attempts to re-focus, just get the shot in focus and before snapping the pic, switch to manual focus and it will take the photo. (this helped me with some dark shots. i'm picking up a filter tomorrow to see if i can get some better moon shots..darn things too bright.

oh! one more thing. I picked up a refurbished lens (manual only) zoom 70-300 for $109. works great! from this site...http://www.adorama.com/
