Protesters Get Arrested
Friday, August 15, 2008
Tinkerbell, Cinderella, Snow White and other Disney princesses were arrested Thursday for their protest. I never thought this could happen to the "Happiest Place on Earth". The arrest of the 32 protesters, many of whom wore costumes representing famous Disney characters, came at the end of an hour-long march to Disneyland's gates from one of three Disney-owned hotels at the center of a labor dispute.

The protesters were sitting in a busy intersection outside of the park holding hands until they were placed in plastic handcuffs. They were arrested on a misdemeanor count of failure to obey a police officer and two traffic infractions.

The reason for the protest was because of the workers' benefits. Their contracts expired in February and the latest proposal from Disney makes health care unaffordable for hundreds of employees. In addition, the union said Disney wants to create a new category of part-time employees who would receive greatly reduced benefits.

WDW Promo for 2009
Thursday, August 14, 2008
Spotted in Walt Disney World was a film shoot set up in front of Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom. It was discovered that the commercial was for next year's Walt Disney World promotion called "Magical Gatherings." Sounds very familiar doesn't it?

Back in 2003, Disney did a similar promotion where you could get a group together and have Disney organize an event to make your vacation magical. Sounds like I might have to plan something with a group of friends next year!

New Star Tours & Soarin'
Tuesday, August 12, 2008
It has been confirmed from LaughingPlace.com that Star Tours 2.0 will be coming to Disneyland and Disney's Hollywood Studios, other parks with the attraction have not yet signed on. Anthony Daniels confirmed he cut some voice tracks and a Lucasfilm head artist confirmed he was assigned to the project. Star Tours is in desperate need of an update, but I'm sure that when it gets the update people will soon miss the original attraction.

Soarin' will also be taking on a change, in film. As California Adventure's theme changes (and eventually the park's name changes too), it only makes sense to change the movie. The new film is likely to have a 'world' theme. This change of theme definitely makes sense for the Epcot attraction. What places in the world would you like to fly over?

Concept Art for PatF

Not too long ago, Disney Animation Studios released the teaser trailer for The Princess and the Frog. We now have a better idea of what to expect from this movie. It's a musical set in New Orleans. This movie marks Disney's return to hand-drawn animation.

The film teams together Ron Clements and Jon Musker, creators of "The Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin" with Oscar® winning composer Randy Newman.
