Do you collect Disney stamps? Did you know that Disney's Mickey Mouse and friends reign as the top selling stamp series in U.S. postage history. It sold over $211 million, beating out Elvis's stamp, which comes in second at $124.1 million. Amazing!
The sets were originally going to be a single collection about friendship, but that quickly grew to include themes of celebration, romance and magic. The imagination-themed fifth and final series was released on August 7, 2008, marking the end of a seven year era. Now Steamboat Willie, Aurora and her three fairies, Pongo and his playful pup, and buddies Baloo and Mowgli are arriving in post offices across the country in the form of a 42-cent first class stamp.
The Disney Insider spoke with the man behind the stamp, David Pacheco, Director of Creative at Disney Consumer Products. Click here to read the interview.
