Playhouse Disney - Live On Stage |
Playhouse Disney is the brand name for Disney Channel's preschool programs, often airing as its own channel outside of the United States. The target age for this segment of the channel is from age 2 - 6. The brand name was rolled out in 1997 when Disney Channel moved from premium cable to basic cable. It is the main competitor to Nick Jr. in most countries.
Stars from "Bear in the Big Blue House," "Stanley," "JoJo's Circus" and "The Book of Pooh" entertain Walt Disney World guests with music, songs and stories of friendship in the popular stage show, "Playhouse Disney-Live on Stage!" at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
The stars of the entertaining musical are characters from the Disney Channel's hit "Playhouse Disney" programming block geared to pre-school audiences.
Jim Henson's "Bear in the Big Blue House" -- A seven-foot-tall, warm and understanding bear invites the audience into his big blue house every day to play, learn, sing and dance with his friends in this Emmy- and Parents Choice Award-winning television series.
"The Book of Pooh" -- The lovable, huggable Pooh and his friends explore the world in a series that combines puppetry with computer-generated "virtual sets."
"JoJo’s Circus” -- JoJo, a six-year-old clown girl who sports a blue beret and bright red locks, joins her ‘toon-proportioned pet lion, Goliath, in a variety of “do-along” movement activities, encouraging young viewers to join in the fun along the way.
"Stanley" -- Stanley takes guests into the life of a very curious little boy with a passion for facts, who searches the animal world for clues about how things work.
The 20-minute stage show at Disney's Hollywood Studios opens with a visit to "Bear in the Big Blue House" and his animal friends. Bear, who dances a mean cha-cha-cha, wants to dance with all of his friends. But his pal Tutter, a little blue mouse, is shy about dancing in front of his new friends in the audience. So Jamie, the show's host, reads a giant storybook to convince Tutter that with the help of his friends he can overcome his shyness and learn to dance the day away.
Inside the storybook are chapters featuring characters from each of the "Playhouse Disney" shows -- each teaching the importance of friendship. There is interactive fun, from bubbles to streamers, to singing and dancing. The setting returns to Bear's house where Tutter dances, and Luna the moon sings "The Goodbye Song" with everyone.
