Bob Gurr Honored

Bob Gurr
Imagineer Bob Gurr has always been a man on the move. And for nearly 40 years, he's helped move many a happy Disney theme park guest aboard vehicles and ride conveyances of his own design. On March 7, Bob received one of the highest honors bestowed by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts — a personalized window on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland Park.

Bob received the recognition for his work on more than 100 attractions at Disneyland Park and Walt Disney World, including designing the original Autopia cars at Disneyland. Over the years his designs also influenced the Monorail, the Matterhorn, the original Submarine Voyage and the Main Street vehicles, to name a few.

In attendance at the ceremony were Mickey and his character friends and Imagineering Executive Vice President and International Ambassador Marty Sklar. Marty paid tribute to Bob's technological achievements...

It's exciting to be here with people like Bob Gurr who worked directly with Walt Disney. We can all take a lesson from the Disney legends who created this park. They still have the same feeling and passion for this park after all these years. This is where the heart is. - Marty Sklar

As the ceremony concluded, confetti flew high in the air as Bob received a replica of his window to take home.

This will be a day I don't think I will ever forget. After everything I have accomplished in my career, this really puts the frosting on the cake. - Bob Gurr
